The holidays...

I don't keep up with this enough as I should. There's always so much going on that I could talk about, but it's also keeping me so busy that I don't think about keeping track of it here. And I want to keep it updated so that people can keep track of me...but the people that I'm most concerned with keeping up with me find out over the phone, for the most part. But I'll try to be better...

So...it's the holiday season. This is a great time of the year because I get to see my family more...especially the nieces and nephew. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing my whole family...but the kiddos are so much fun. Mom's side of the family got together for our annual shopping day for Toys 4 Tots. It was fun, as always. My nieces and nephew are getting so big! I love seeing them and being able to play with them.

Work has been really busy. We just had our Breakfast with Santa event yesterday where we had right at 450 people come through to see Santa. Then, I met dad to look at some motorcycles. After that, I met Casey, Erin, and Ainsley at Costco for a little bit. Saturday evening, we went to dad's church for their holiday dinner. Then I went to a friend's house for a little while that I haven't seen lately. It was a very busy day!

This morning, I helped mom get all of her Christmas stuff out of the attic. She asked me if I need anything to decorate my apartment. I told her I don't get enough company to need decorations, but if company comes around, I know where I can get decorations ;)

Halloween, volunteer dinner, and other stuff...

The weekend after Casey and Erin moved back to NC was Halloween weekend. Kory and Allen were having a birthday party for CJ's 4th birthday, so I went back to Raleigh for the weekend. It was cute to see CJ and all of her friends at the party. She was a princess, and so were a couple of her friends. I spent alot of time chasing Ainsley around, so it's a good thing I took a nap with Rylee before the party.

Casey and I also did some stuff around their new house...put up some shelves, moved the desk from the top floor to the basement, and helped Uncle Ray run some wiring in the basement. It was also determined that I will be Uncle Ray's apprentice so that someone has an idea of how to do wiring when Uncle Ray can't anymore. I think Dane probably has a pretty good handle on it, but I don't mind learning a little about a new trade.

While I was in Raleigh, my laptop decided to crash on me. There's a few things that I lost, but I think I can salvage them from old emails and stuff. So now I'm in the market for a new one...at some point. J.R. is letting me use a laptop of his for right now, so I'm not gonna rush into it. But I'm leaning towards a Mac for my next computer. We'll see.

Last week was a busy week for me. At the YMCA I work for, we had a recognition dinner for the volunteers that have donated their "Time, Talent & Treasure" (that was the name of the dinner) to our Y over the past 12 months. We sent out over 700 invitations, and had over 250 attendees. It was great to see all the volunteers and reflect on everything they do for us.

Speaking of reflecting, I spent Tuesday reflecting on the past 11 years. Alot of memories played over and over in my mind...and it made my day great. Ultimately, the day didn't end the way I had hoped, but I capped it off by watching The Notebook...and that helped a little. Maybe soon...

What a trip!

Well, Casey, Erin, and Ainsley are back in NC! I woke up Friday morning at 3:15 in Raleigh to catch a flight at 6 AM to Texas. I landed in Texas 4 hours later, and met Erin and Ainsley in the airport. I gave her my keys so she could pick up my car when she landed. Then I went out and went with Casey to pick up the second truck so we could finish loading everything. We loaded until 4:30, and then I went to dinner with the ladies I use to work with at the YMCA in Texas. It was so good to see them.

I got back from dinner at 6 PM, and Casey and I were on the road around 6:10. We drove until 6:45 AM Saturday, and we decided to take a short break. We pulled over at a rest stop and slept in the trucks for about an hour. Then, we pushed on to Raleigh.

We finally arrived in Raleigh around 6:45 PM on Saturday. We unloaded a couple things that needed to come off of the trucks (with the help of some folks from the church ward they will be attending), then Casey and I went up the street to grab a bite to eat. When we got back, we both stretched out on the floor in the living room and fell asleep. We figured it out while we were getting dinner...I had been up for 41 hours, and Casey had been up for 38 hours.

I woke up the next morning around 8, and mom, Ronnie, and I started unloading a truck. We got most of 1 truck unloaded by the time Casey, Erin, Erin's mom, and Ainsley got there. A little later, Kory, Allen, CJ, and Rylee came over to help, and then Hannah, Brandon and Brayden shortly after that. We got everything unloaded, and I headed back to Charlotte around 4:30. After dropping Ronnie off at their house, I ended up back at my apartment around 8 PM last night.

It's wonderful to have all of the family in NC now...but Casey and I both agreed that we wouldn't be doing that again. At least, not anytime soon.

I hadn't seen Ainsley in 3 months, and when I saw her at the airport, she looked at me like she knew who I was, but wasn't exactly sure how. Well, yesterday, I walked by the kitchen and saw her with Erin. I stopped, looked at her and smiled, and she looked at me and said "Bob" and came running over to me! She finally remembered who I was! I'm so glad that all of my nieces and nephews are within easy driving distance now!

I spoke to a friend of mine today who was worried about us driving, and I told them about the trip. When they found out that we only stopped for 1 hour for rest, they were not very happy with me. They said that I told them that we would stop and get a hotel, and that was what kept them from completely freaking out. I didn't remember saying anything about a hotel, but they said that I did, and it was a good thing that they thought that we would. I'm happy to have such a good friend that cares about me like that. :)

Going to Texas

Well, in just under a week, I will be flying back to Texas. Casey, Erin, and Ainsley are moving to NC!!! I'm so excited to have them in NC, even though they will still be a couple hours away. But it will be nice to be able to go visit with them. I'm going out to help Casey finish packing up, then we'll be putting Erin's car behind a moving truck and driving back. It's gonna take 2 trucks, so that's why I'm going out. Erin will be flying out about an hour and a half after I land, so that she and Ainsley don't have to make the long drive. I'm only gonna be in Texas for 1 night, then we'll drive back Saturday and arrive in Raleigh on Sunday...at least, that's the plan.

This coming Thursday, I'm planning on driving up to Greensboro to meet Nicholas Sparks on his book tour for "The Last Song". I've already read the book, and it's pretty good. The movie comes out next year, along with "Dear John"...another book-turned-movie from Nicholas Sparks.

I'm trying out a new phone...the Blackberry Storm. I had to take the original one back to the store because it started acting up, so they gave me a brand new one. So far, it's doing good. We'll see how it goes. This is why I wanted to try it out though. I'll use it until the end of the year, and if everything is still going good, I'll stick with it. Otherwise, I'll get a new phone.

The nieces and nephews are growing like weeds. Allen just sent me a video of CJ dancing and singing...very cute! I haven't seen CJ and Rylee much, and it's kind of frustrating. Working part-time makes it tough to make the drive to Raleigh. I get to see them Thursday night because I'll be staying there to be able to get to the airport at Raleigh for a 6 AM flight. I hope that things work out sooner than later to where I can visit more without having to worry about gas.

Work is going great! I love the YMCA that I work for. The people are great, and the atmosphere is awesome! There's always something going on, which keeps it interesting. And the events are great! We had our fall festival, we just had our Grand Opening for our new Teaching Kitchen, and we are coming up on our Volunteer Recognition Dinner. This dinner is big for me, because it's honoring all the folks that I coordinate. We had 700 volunteers devote their time over the past 12 months. That's an amazing sense of devotion to the community!

Dad, JR, and I went to the Panthers/Redskins game this past weekend. We got to witness thier first win of the season! And Kory said that a guy from her office got engaged during the break between the 1st and 2nd quarters. Then, after the game, we were walking out of the stadium and bumped into Raymond Hoover (Brad Hoover's dad). I don't think I've seen him since I was in high school. It's always nice to run into people that you haven't seen in a while.

Anyway, just thought I would update since I hadn't in a while. I will try to update more regularly.

31 on the 31st

I'm 31 now. Time flies by doesn't it? I mean, I look at C.J., and it seems like yesterday that Kory and Allen handed me the card for my birthday telling me that I was going to be an uncle...and that was 4 years ago now. I can still remember holding Ainsley for the first time when I moved back to Texas last summer...now she has already had her 1st birthday. And every time I see Rylee and Brayden, I can tell that they are growing faster than anyone wants them to.

It puts into perspective that you need to make sure you cherish the moments you have. Take time to spend time with the ones you love, and tell them that you love them. Even if that means being up at 3:30 in the morning and putting it on your blog.

It's always nice when people remember your birthday. Knowing that they are thinking about you, and they take time out of what they have going on to let you know they are thinking about you gives me a wonderful feeling. People ask "what do you want for your birthday?" I never have an answer for that, because I try not to get wrapped up in material things. But now I know what I want for my birthday every year...even if it's in the middle of the night. : )

So another year starts, and even though I didn't have any candles in my cake this year, I made a wish. And I have always heard that if you tell your wish, then it won't come true. So I will keep it to myself, but it's nice how parts of the wish come true so quickly.

It gets hard sometimes...

I was checking some of my email on different websites this morning, and I came across an email that had a couple songs in it. I have been listening to them over and over this morning...my mind wandering...my heart with mixed feelings of loneliness and heartache, but overpowered by feelings of complete joy in listening to the words of those songs.

I have been back in NC since July 10th. I love being back here...getting to be so close to most of my family (all of my family soon)...being with an organization where there could be wonderful opportunities for growth and to make a difference...and being close to a really good friend...that I would like to hear from ; )

I see my nieces and nephew, hold them and play with them, and I start wishing for that for myself...to have a small someone of my own to take care of, to watch grow, and to love. That's a hope and dream of mine. But for now, I don't mind giving my attention and love to my wonderful nieces and nephew.

I know the majority of this post doesn't follow the title I chose for this blog, and probably sounds a little like a Nicholas Sparks book. But it's what was on my mind this morning, so thanks for bearing with me.

By the way, Nicholas Sparks will be in Greensboro for a book signing in a couple months...and you know I'll be there for it, and to get his new book..."The Last Song"...which they say is being turned into a movie. They also have said that his book "Dear John" is already in the works as a movie. Just to update those of you who like his stuff. I'm on his fanpage on Facebook, so I get updates : )

Wyoming bound!

Ok, I know...I just got back to North Carolina from Texas, now I'm taking off to Wyoming??? Well, we've had this planned for quite some time, and there's no way I was going to miss it! I'm just glad that my new boss said it was ok for me to go. :D

So, tomorrow after work, I am driving up to meet my stepdad, my brother-in-law Allen, and a buddy of his and we're driving to Wyoming! I know you're wondering "Why on earth are they taking off to Wyoming?" Well, when it involves Cheyenne Frontier Days, a rodeo, and a concert by The Great Mr. George Strait, I don't believe anything else needs to be said!

I started my new job today with the YMCA here in Charlotte, and I think it's going to be great! This Y is so organized, well designed, and well-run! It's about 3 times the size of the one I worked for in Texas, but I don't know if this new Y will have the same caliber of people that I worked with in Texas....Debbie, Lisa, Lorraine, Linda....they were wonderful!!!

So I won't be online for about a week because I'm not taking my laptop. If we're going to be camping out while we're out there, there's no point in bringing a computer. But I will have my Blackberry, so try me on it if you wanna get in touch with me.

North Carolina...I'm coming back!!!

Well, I have finished my time in Texas. I had my last day at the Grand Prairie YMCA, and spent the evening with some friends that I made while I was there. Texas has been a wonderful experience for me, but it's time to get back closer to the people that mean the most. My brother Casey and his family are still in Texas, but they will be joining us soon, and we'll all be within a reasonable distance from each other. It makes me very happy to know that. I'm looking forward to being able to watch my nieces and nephew grow up.

I'm also happy about being back closer to good friends. I had a conversation with a friend of mine who means alot to me, and they said that it has been weird knowing that I have been in Texas the past couple of years. But they are happy that I will be back in NC, and closer than I was before I moved to Texas. That means alot to me.

There's nothing better in life than to surround yourself with the people that you care about the most, and that care about you.

So I'm heading out in a few hours to make the 16.5 hour drive back to NC. I won't be able to check in for a little bit because of setting up new internet service, but I'll be back on as soon as I can!

Thanks to everyone in Texas that has been a part of my experience here...it was awesome!

Changes...

Well, I got a job offer in Charlotte, NC at one of their YMCAs. If everything works out, I'll be moving in a couple weeks. I will know for sure on Wednesday.

On a more somber note...I was knocked for a loop just a few minutes ago. As insignificant as it might sound, I was removed from a friend list. I have a very good friend that I have known for quite a few years (11 years on June 30), and it seems that I've done something wrong. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed that I haven't, and that they will be contacting me soon.

Kinda lost for words right now, so this is a short post.

I'm an uncle again!!! Twice in 2 days!!!

So I came back to NC to visit, and to check into the possibility of moving back from TX. I got back on Friday night/early Saturday morning (May 29/30). I get a text message early on Sunday morning (May 31) with a picture of my new niece, Rylee Ann!!! Here's a picture of me and her from later that day...

Then, on Monday (June 1), my little sister had my first nephew, Brayden Tucker!!! Here's a picture of him...and a short video (a little dark, but listen to the noise he makes when he exhales)...

So I've been spending alot of time in Raleigh, but I also had to go to Charlotte for a job interview. It's a job with a YMCA there. I enjoy working at the Y so much in Texas, that I thought I would just look into that here too. I should hear back from them by the end of the week, so we'll see. It still won't be extremely close to my family, but 1.5 to 2 hours is much better than 16.5 to 17!!!

If you are on facebook, I have alot of pictures there, too. And I will put some on MySpace too, just in case. Ok, I will update again soon.

I'm Gradumatated!!!

Well, I've been graduated for a week, and it's been 3 weeks since my last post, so I thought I would put a little something on here. Mom came out for the graduation, and Alex came out too. Alex came out more to just hang out than specifically for my graduation. I ended up with 5 "A's" and 2 "B's" for this last semester. My GPA was high enough to put me on the President's Honor Roll (kinda like the Dean's List). So, now I just have to wait for my diploma to come in the mail. Here's a picture of graduation:

So now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do. The YMCA here in Texas wants me to stay here, but all my family is back in NC. I'm actually traveling back to NC this coming week to spend some time there and see how things go. I'm thankful to the YMCA here for allowing me to do so.

I had a phone interview today with the YMCA in Charlotte, and I think it went well. They had 120 applications/resumes submitted for this particular position. They narrowed it down to 15 for phone interviews, and they will narrow it down again to about 5 or 6 for face-to-face interviews. The lady I was speaking with said that she felt very strongly that I would be called for one of those interviews.

So, depending on what they say about that job, I will have a decision to make. Stay here at the YMCA where they really want me to stay and move into a higher position in a few months, or come back to NC and work for the YMCA there (if it's offered to me). The position in NC is a part-time position, but the lady said it will become a full-time position...and also there is the opportunity to pick up extra hours working on the front desk and things like that. There's always something to do at the Y!!!

Needless to say, I've got alot to think about. We will see how everything goes.

On a funner note...Ainsley has started to walk! It's cute because she gets so excited that she loses balance alot of the time. Oh...Casey and Erin are still telling her to call me Uncle Bob, because she can only speak in single syllables. It's ok because she's super cute!

One more week!!!

This upcoming week is the last week of classes! Then exams are the following week, but I only have 2 of them. I have already completed my 3 online courses. So now I can concentrate on Accounting and Economics.
Mom is coming out for graduation, but I think it was just a ploy to see Ainsley because she's coming out for 5 days...graduation is only for 1 hour. ; )
Alex will be here too. He's coming out to hang out for about a week. Casey already bought baseball tickets for while mom and Alex are here.
I've already applied for about 6 or 7 jobs back in NC, but nothing has come through yet. But I'm gonna keep trying. I sent over 2 more yesterday, so we'll see. I'm just ready to get back to NC. The YMCA out here can't take me on full-time because of budget issues, and I'm ready to get back to life where I have a home instead of an apartment.
Ainsley has become MUCH more active, which is wonderful to see! You can't help but smile when you look at her. But I think she's going to be confused later in life. Casey and Erin have decided to start calling me Uncle Bob. I think it's because Ainsley is speaking in single syllables right now, so I'll just have to break her of that when she can say more than one syllable at a time.
I'm also contemplating going back to NC sooner than I originally planned. The reason for that is because I have submitted applications/resumes only back in NC, and I want to be available if an interview comes along. I'm sure that some companies will do a phone interview, but I'm sure they will eventually want a face-to-face interview. And if I'm not in NC, then it's gonna cost me a plane ticket each time they want one. I don't know, still trying to sort everything out. I hate to give up the job here at the YMCA because I know jobs are hard to come by, but it seems like it makes more sense to go back to NC.
Anyway...just wanted to update what's been going on, and also just talk about some things that are on my mind.

Drop day...

Well, I'm officially in the home stretch. "Drop day" was last Thursday. This was the last chance to drop a class without it showing up bad on my transcript. Of course, if I had dropped any classes, I would have had to attend one of the summer sessions, or take another semester. Since I didn't drop any, I will be done in under a month. I told myself I just wanna pass all of these classes and get out. But, truthfully, I want to more than "just pass". If I can make 4 "A"s and only 1 "B", I can keep my GPA high enough to stay part of Phi Theta Kappa. So that's what I'm concentrating on.

I found out I have to drive my car back to NC in July, if I'm still living in Texas. My inspection is due in July, and so I have to get that taken care of. It will work out ok, because then I'll have a car while I'm out there for a couple weeks. Then, I'll be heading to Wyoming with my brother-in-law and a couple others to see George Strait in concert. I'm also planning on taking a little mini-vacation for a few days while I'm in NC. I think I'm heading to the mountains because the beach will just be too busy. Plus, it's not the same with what they've done to Myrtle.

A little of everything...

Well, spring break ended a couple weeks ago now, so it's back to my regular routine...up at 5, work out for about an hour, come home and get cleaned up, go to school, go to work, come home and work on homework. The first day back to class from spring break, I had a test in Accounting. I needed a 95 or better to bring my grade back up to an "A". I got a 94.6, so I'm hoping he will round up. Of course, there are 2 more tests to be taken, so I can always bring it up further.

I was over at Casey and Erin's on Sunday, and I was on the floor playing with Ainsley. I took a minute to look at something on TV, and I felt Ainsley start climbing on me and standing up while she was holding on to me. It took me a second to realize, but I noticed she wasn't holding on to me anymore, and I didn't hear her regular "thump" when she lands on her tush. So, I turn and look at her, and she's standing up by herself balancing! I started talking to her telling her she was such a big girl standing up by herself, and Casey said that she had started doing that. I asked him for how long, and he said just for a few seconds. Well, she ended up standing there for about 20-25 seconds!

It's so amazing to watch her develop. The background on my Blackberry is the first picture of me holding her, and I remember she was so small and helpless. Now she is getting bigger by the day, and also becoming more fearless. Makes me wish the family was closer so that I could see C.J. growing, and Rylee and Brayden when they get here. I have submitted my resume to a few places back in NC for jobs when I get done with school. Maybe one of them will work out so I can head back that way.

I've started planning for graduation, so I will be picking up my cap & gown next week. Mom is going to fly out for it and spend a few days, and Dad is checking to see if he can get off work. I originally didn't care to do it, but mom said she would like to see it. So, on May 14, I will be officially graduating with my 2-year degree in Accounting. I can't wait! I'm ready to get back to the real world...get another house, maybe a new car or motorcycle, or maybe a couple horses if I can find a place with some land. We'll see what comes around!

Spring break...

Well, it's half-way through the semester, and everybody knows what that means....SPRING BREAK!!! I've got BIG plans for this week. So far, I've worked 18 hours the past 2 days, and I'm heading back in to work again this morning. I usually work in the afternoons, but since I don't have class I thought I would get work taken care of in the mornings. Plus, I told a certain little someone that I would be there when her mom came in to work out this week. I missed her yesterday though, because our staff meeting ran over. Sorry Brookie!!! 3 year olds bounce back pretty easy, so I don't think she'll be too mad at me.

About school...

Last week there was a class that I was pretty frustrated with because I wasn't able to turn in my final assignment the way it was suppose to be. I finally got it turned in, and I tried to talk to the instructor, but he was sick the end of last week. So I figured I would just wait and see if he accepts it, what grade he gives me, then dispute it if it didn't seem fair. I checked my grades yesterday morning, and it turns out that he accepted it and gave me an "A". I was pretty excited! And I looked this morning for the other class that ended last week, and I ended up with a "B" in it. I thought I was going to finish with a "C" in that course, but there were a couple homework assignments that she hadn't posted yet, so it brought my grade up.

About being an uncle...

Casey sent this really cute picture of Ainsley to me yesterday, and I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I saw it. She has started pulling herself up on things now, and sometimes she gets to a point where she can't move. She got caught in a semi-split, and Casey and Erin decided to take a picture of her before they helped her out. Check it out...

You can't help but smile when you see this and think about what has to be going through her mind!!!

Have I ever mentioned that I love being an uncle???

School...

So yesterday was a rough day. I got an email through my Blackberry around 11:30 PM Monday night stating that all the assignments for one of my online classes were due by 10 AM Tuesday morning. This was a shock, since as far as I knew they weren't due until Friday. So I only got 4 hours of sleep that night. Then, when I tried to submit them, the website to submit them through wasn't working right. So I had issues with that. Oh well, it was pretty lame. Now I'm waiting to see if the instructor will accept them since they didn't get there the way they were suppose to until about 2 hours after the deadline.

Mom came out to visit last weekend. We went and saw King Tut and got our names written in hieroglyphics. We didn't go a whole lot of different places, because her main reason for the visit was to see Ainsley anyway...it just was convenient that Casey, Erin, and I live out here too! Well, I know it wasn't like that, but it gave alot of laughs to people when I made that little joke. She was suppose to leave Monday evening around 5...or so we thought. We were about to walk out to lunch, when she looked at her boarding pass and saw that she was suppose to leave at 12 noon...and it was 11:50. Needless to say, she wasn't going to make it. We had been looking at the departure time of her connecting flight.

I'm halfway through my last semester, and I can't wait to be done! I'm already starting to look at my options for when I get done. We'll see what happens. I'm also entertaining the idea of getting a new car when I graduate.

No really cool uncle stories this time. The only thing I have to tell is that Ainsley is making little squealing noises now instead of growling. Casey and I have been trying to get her to growl again, but I think it's hopeless.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Ok, I'm gonna try something, and I hope it works. I'm hanging out at Casey's the other night while Erin and Ainsley were out of town, and I get a video message from Kory. She said CJ had been asking about Uncle Curt recently. Somebody let me know if this video doesn't work...

She's showing me Tinkerbell on her card and waiting for a response. That's the cutest part...she's talking to me like I'm going to tell her that I see Tinkerbell. Then, at the end, she asks Kory if my birthday is coming.

I haven't seen Ainsley since she and Erin got back from Florida, but mom is flying out Friday to visit, so I'm sure I'll be over there alot. I can't wait to see her! She is so fun to play with, and makes me smile.

So...

I know it's been a while since I was on here, but I've been trying to get over my depression of the disappointing season the Panthers had. Then, this past week, Duke lost to Carolina. But it's ok, life goes on.

Speaking of life, I have to share stories about being an uncle...since that's why I created this blog.

Casey was out of town last week, so I went over to hang out with Ainsley so Erin could do some stuff. Sunday night, she went to a fireside at church for the soon-to-be 8 year olds about baptism. So Ainsley and I had fun...playing on her blanket, and she would stand in my lap and sit in my lap and hit my stomach. When Erin got home, Ainsley got in her walker (well, she was placed in her walker since she can't get in it yet) and was walking all around. When I went over the other night, Casey said that Ainsley got upset when I left. Erin told me that Ainsley walked in her walker over to the door where I left, stood there for a second, then started crying. Talk about things that make your heart melt!

Kinda like the time that Kory brought C.J. out to Texas with her. C.J. and I spent alot of time together that weekend...playing in the sprinklers (summer in Texas, ya know), riding the E-merge, and watching T.V. When I took them back to the airport to fly back to NC, I asked C.J. if she wanted to stay in Texas with Uncle Curt. Kory was holding her, and C.J. just turned and reached for me!

The point of both of those stories is...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING AN UNCLE!!! I can't wait for May and June when Kory gives me my third niece and Hannah gives me my first nephew!!!

What a weird football season it's been...

Well, the whole season ended up being a big disappointment. Just when it looked like the Panthers were primed to make a strong push in the post-season, they choke in the first round. After that, I started pulling for the Eagles. Well...that was shot-down today. So, I guess I will have to back the Steelers in the Superbowl. It's either that, or go back and forth with Casey the whole game.

I also found out today that Julius Peppers (the starting defensive end for the Panthers) doesn't want to come back to the Panthers. Dad called me after church and told me. So that's another big disappointment. At least we still have Hoover!!!

The Superbowl is on February 1. After that, it's "depression mode" for me and Casey until the season starts again in August. At least we will have college basketball to satisfy us through March...but it's just not the same.

Classes start back on Tuesday. All I have to do is pass 7 classes in one semester and I'm done!!!

Since I've named this blog "The Life of Uncle Curtis", I might as well tell you a few antidotes about my current and future nieces and nephew. The only thing I have to report on C.J. is that she acts alot older than she actually is. It's fun to interact with her, and I can't wait to see her again. Ainsley is a mess! She's make alot more noise, and a few different noises now. You can't help but look at her and smile. Kory said she had another ultrasound and confirmed it's going to be another niece for Uncle Curtis! I'm excited! And Hannah called tonight and said that Brandon felt my nephew move a little. I'm so happy for them!

My first post...

So, I decided to create a blog for myself. Thought I would take this first post to just give a little background.

I'm 30 years old, living just outside of Dallas, TX. I moved out here about a year-and-a-half ago for a couple reasons. I wanted to go back and finish some sort of degree, and this coming May I will be done with my 2-year degree in Accounting. The other main reason was that I wanted to make a few changes...new scenery, try somewhere else, and become active in church again. I thank my brother and sister-in-law for the opportunity to accomplish all these things.

I chose the name of my blog to be "The Life of Uncle Curtis", because that's what I am right now...Uncle Curt. My dear mother has already labeled me as the resident uncle, since I'm 30 and single. Sounds like she's given up on me, huh??? (Just kidding mom) But I think my brother really has given up on me. He has a wall of pictures in his house with everybody and their significant others. And for me, he has this...

I know he's just messing with me.

This is a picture of a pony that I was working on breaking for my mom and stepdad. They got rid of him after I moved to Texas. Not because I moved, but because they didn't have the time to keep working with him.

I have 2 amazing nieces right now (C.J. and Ainsley) and this summer I'll be uncle to another niece and my first nephew!!! I'm so excited about that!!!

I'm not sure how often I will use this, but I'm thinking I will need a stress release during my last semester of school since I'm taking 21 hours and working at least 30 hours a week. Anyway, thanks for checking out my blog!!!
